Please can some one help me how I can encourage the Kandepians to actively involve in sports.

It is so typical that at least 90% of Kandepians are stiff bodied and that they are hardly interested in any sports actitivities but instead sit and talk about food.... Ain Nu Andaek Yapao!!!... The remaining 10% of Kandepians do look fit and active because they are exposed to the outside sports experiences.

To identify a Kandepian, it's very easy: Hands at the back, bilum at the back, the Kandep cap, dirty, wandering for something to eat!!!!........

How the hell can I implement soccer, rugby, volleyball into their daily routine??

    Something I am thinking about.

old days were best. at independence week, you can see the different groups putting up shows for the bounties allocated. games at murip/yapum, lawee, kandep station, longap were the best.

grewing up at kandep station, i could still remember those days where every afternoon or weekends, basketball and volley games where the ones to go for at Sawii Vocational School. Mipla ol mangi station sa go ambak lo hap...hehehehe....sometimes soccer at kokas (high skul). I think in 1991 and 2 (my last two years), it was fun watching rugby league at station. at that time, i think most teachers, majority from outside Kandep were involved. I think it stopped due to a serious injury to a teacher from murip, i don't know.

Well, we need to bring back those glory days and implement sports into kandepians daily routine. One great setback, is tribal fighting and enemies. I wouldn't like sports fields to be blood-bed, if you get what i mean. Therefore, it would be proper to introduce community peace committees and some projects for the rural people to get engaged into. And then solve the tribal issues between warring tribes including those dormant ones. Our local MP should take a lead but we educated people should be supporting such agendas and disarm our people from guns and arm them with spades and balls. I like the Wabag MP's initiative, "Lusim Gun, Holim Sapol". Can we do something similiar?

I do agree that Sports have great impacts in changing one's mindset and bring peace and ever lasting relationship between different tribal groups.

    like $.05 contribution tzol.

    Thanks Wireless,

The Kandep MP should look into this and and there are so called District Youth and Sports Coodinators on pay rolll but maybe they lack funding. The recent rugby competitions ceased to players belting up a referee in the field.

However, as from my level, I may start up something in my community, also inviting surrounding villagers to participate as well.

But the difficulty here now is to further spread the code of sports to the whole of Kandep.

    Am still bogged.

Cool. Lets start something in the village level. Hopefully it will spread to other villages. If the so call Y&S officers are enjoying the cousy chair, let them. We need to start something small.

Volleyball, basketball and rugby touch would be good way to start. If someone can chip in K2000.00 as a gift to the community in sports, it will go in big time.

    lets start this

PP and wireless, good thoughts, worth trying. I think the village people are healthy but so-called cronies of politicians are growing fatty bottoms with all the lamb flaps from the stolen bucks.

Its time Don start something so he does not lose all his growing fatty arse friends through natural justice and thats death.

    wetlander and Ace,

yes the village people are healthy but they have been infected already by the money culture. when we introduce such sporting activities, people will have a otherwise of the intention - "man yeah mas gat sampla kain tingting na wokim..."...they will align it to politics. But let that be coz it will surely pull in some fat asses. This has happened in a village in Enga i know but the good thing is, we tell them this is not political or what so ever, but its for the good of the community.

Sometimes, I think that its not always good to have a begging hand. We can use our own initiative. Let me say this:
" If kandep station has groomed 5 elites who are working class at their own professions. They agree to contribute K200.00 each, then they can stage a christmas game or 6 months game for the village. I bet, everyone will enjoy".

To me, I've seen people buying beer cartoons after cartoons or jugs after jugs. I do totally agree its their freedoom and hard earned bucks so don't think I'm judging people here. In mosbi a SP bottle cartoon = K80, white = K108.00. In wabag, its K120 for SP bottle, K192.00 for white can. If we can make use of this money and do something worthwhile like organising Sports back in our villages, it will be more helpful. Someone told me that he regrets most times why he ended up spending so much on beer the other day. He keeps on telling me this and never stops. Such money should have been sent some home. This is just an example but what we need is "lets use some of the money we just spent meaninglessly to initiate such sporting activities back in the province and villages.

Sports is also good for our people's health. Nogud ol go lo gaden kam bek, lukautim pik go lo bush sindaun lo kas and get old so soon. Sadly, some young people are getting old so soon so lets do something.
